Sunshine and Lollypops

Sunshine peeked through the sky and no rain was in sight on Christmas Day. We took off and did some more sight seeing of the mountains and river and the Mill. Kind of cool little village they got going here.

Christmas was good. We had a late Christmas as we waited for Marhsa's sister to arrive after working a night shift. She arrived around 5:45 and then we opened gifts. We then had a late dinner as some technical difficulties with the turkey which just put me to sleep nicely. We attended the morning service and the Christmas Eve service then night before.

As for gifts, I got a sweet palm pilot from Marsha, a Random Orbital Sander, a label maker, Bret Hart DVD collection and a stud finder (that seems to be just going off all around me for some reason) from my parents, A shirt and the U2 DVD of Vertigo from my sis, A GBOWR 2006 from Marsha's Bro and a Memory card, an online subscription to Comsumer Reports, and some coveralls from Marsha's parents. I still have some gifts to get from other members of my family like my bro and two gifts from the family pools. I'm sure I missed something from someone but all was much appreciated.

We are going to be going to Victoria for New Years. Partying it up with someone I'm sure. We'll then head for the rolling hills to E-town to visit my dad's side of the family. Marsha has not met them so we decided while in the area, why not.

Congrats goes out to James and Elke for a new addition to the family. Seen some photos of the little one, pretty cute.

Well that seems like plenty of chatting for today but I will keep you posted, unlike some other bloggers out there.

"You're Officially in the Middle of Nowhere"

We've made it to Gold River, Marsha's hometown. We stopped in Calgary on Sunday night and stayed at my aunt's place. We then motored on into BC country and arrived in Vancouver on Monday night to stay at Marsha's aunt's place. We then made a trip to see her brother and her new nephew on the way to Ikea. A Cute kid, Kevin Jaycob Hagerty. I see the tradition continues on the naming of boys, but what's with adding Y's to names these days. I am continuously correcting the spelling of my name, no Y, cause of this new fad. OK, I give it to you for being original just like when I was named. We arrived last night in Gold River around 8ish.

I've come to the realization that I miss my sky. It's overcast and I kind of feel closed in by mountains and the sky. I know this sounds funny, but I'm a prairie boy what can I say. The weather is nice, a little rain but nothing I can't handle.

Well I'll keep you all posted on the trip as I get access to the internet.

I'm Done

I'm finally done my job. Yeah. It's been 15 months since I started the city and I'm finally done. I was just getting too frustrated with work that I needed to get out of there. So far, I'll I've really done is nothing.

Yesterday was a "Day For Marsha." I finally got her ring in two Thursdays ago and got some plans in order to get it to her. I had arranged for a good friend, also Massage Therapist in training, to give Marsha a well deserved 1.5 hours massage. I also wanted her to get her hair done and then rent a hot tub for a soak. Unfortunately everything can't work out. But my meal did. I cooked a Roast Beast, Mashed Potatoes, Corn and brought it to Marsha's new dig for her. I then wrote a short story for her where I placed the ring in the book in a secret compartment in the back. I'm pretty sure she enjoyed the evening.

MARHSA'S NEW DIG

Marsha is moving, or has moved (she still has a few things to move). Her G'Ma had a place for rent and offered it to her for a sweet deal. Marsha has been living in a tiny little apartment in a basement for a little over a year now and has grown out of it. Her new place is a two bedroom suite. Very spacious, exactly what Marsha needed. The kitchen has "29 cupboards!" as Marsha has stated many a times and is going to be a great place to live. After the marriage, we'll be living there until December at the earliest.

The bonus is that the basement will be my new workshop. It is just concrete right now but I will be erecting some walls to close off some space for storage and have to run some electrical before I get settled in. Should be great.

CHRISTMAS PLANS

Marsha and I will be heading out to the coast for the holidays we leave for Calgary on Sunday and hope to be in Vancouver Monday. I'm getting the privilege of traveling to Gold River, BC. (Marsha's hometown) This should be great time spent with the future in-laws as well as brother and sister in-laws. This will be my first Christmas away from my parents. After asked how I felt about that, I feel it will be fine cause it still will be spent with people I love.

CUPBOARDS ARE IN

That's right, the sixteen cupboards are in. They have finally arrived and are being installed this week. Looks like in time for Christmas. Does that mean I'll have everything in place before I go. Unfortunately not but I hope to get the rest of the floor laid and the drywall finished. They look great against the dark walls. Pictures to follow.

The Cabinetmaker has had a tough year. Apparently he can't find good help to work with. What opportune time. I'm available. I talked to him earlier and I didn't know what his feelings were. But who knows what the next chapter in Braden's work life will be.
