Paint on the Walls and Cupboards on the Way

So there is finally some paint on the walls. Don't get too excited, we are not ready for company quite yet. We've picked the colours for the kitchen/dining/living room - Great Room, entrance way and hallway. I like to see what creative names people come up with for colours. Just picture a rich "Greenfield Pumpkin" in the kitchen and a complimentary "Richmond Gold" in the entrance way and hallway. At a first glance I thought it might be a little dark, but really, I think it will look great. The cupboards will apparently be in next week. They are an off white in colour and will tone down the walls in the kitchen.

It's hard to think that I will be out of a job in just under two and a half weeks. Some may still think I'm crazy but more I think of it, the phone is still ringing with calls for help. I talked to the cabinet maker today and asked if he needed any help around his shop maybe half time and he is willing to let me in his shop to observe how he works. He was kind of discouraging asking if this is what I really wanted. I contemplated as I was making the call from work and looked around the room and thought YES, anywhere but here. Hey if I'm a total flop I'll always have Marsha to support me.

Has it Really Been That Long?

Seriously, has it been a month since my last post? I really need a shin kicking to get me back in the groove of posting.

So what is new in my life.

I'M ENGAGED!

That's right you heard it here first folks, actually if you've been reading Marsha's Blog you probably read it there first. Now you're all wondering what romantic way did I propose. Well I really haven't. We came to an agreement a while back and I finally got the guts to tell my parents what our decision. It's not technically official with a ring yet, but it's on the way, we ordered one last week. We're having it made. I thought she might as well pick out something she'll like rather than me picking some awful thing out and her not liking it for the rest of her life. Plans are in the works for things but the hall is booked. July 15, 2006.

I've been busy. At the beginning of the month of November, I was the stage manager for the Theatre Saskatchewan's TheatreOne festival. The festival had 9 plays in a 3 day weekend. I had a few long days and a couple Longer nights. I had fun. Some of me wishes I did more theatre, yet other parts say I've had enough. I've definitely had enough of our Cultural Centre here in MJ that's for sure.

BABYSITTING 102

Last night, after going to Marsha's house after work she tells me "We are babysitting for Kevin and Stacey in 45 mins." Now if you'd refer to previous post about babysitting, I've never really done it. So far, my babysitting experiences have been simple. I sit. Last night Marsha gave me Kaitlyn and left me on my own. It was about 6:15 and she became tired. I sat with her in the Leather recliner and began to watch the Dish. I then heard a little sucking noise and realized Kaitlyn was trying to Breast feed off of me. (see Kevin's blog of "The Hickey" as he describes it best) I found this amusing and after a short time she was sound asleep in my arms. What a cutie.

I'VE RESIGNED

I've quit my job. That's right, you can all think I'm crazy for quitting my job with the city but I know I have to get out of there. I'll be done in three weeks. Feels nice but I'm sure I'll miss that paycheck every two weeks. My plans are to do carpentry by myself for a while and possibly go to school for a journeyman course. I'm currently looking for a house to buy with a shop so I can do my business from home. The purchase for a trailer is in the plans and now I've got to draft up a business plan.

KITCHEN RENOS

The kitchen is coming along. I've got some finishing touches on the drywall, and hopefully tomorrow we'll be painting. We also got all new windows and doors in our house. It's really starting to take shape. Next year will be siding and insulation on the exterior. Today we spent the day out side hanging up our old kitchen cupboards in the garage. Trying to organize that mess out there and get it so we can park at least ONE vehicle in it - MINE. Just kidding, it'll probably mom's car.

HOUSE SHOPPING

As stated before I'm looking for a house. It's kind of fun but stressful at the same time. Prices have gone up in the last year. I can't decide what kind of a house we want, a fixer upper - what I'd like, or something to just move in to - kinda what Marsha wants. I found a nice one today with a heated garage. Might be a good option to start and the flip a house later. At least I'll have my shop this way. This is a must in my house shopping or a house that is priced low enough and decent enough lot size to build one on. Marsha is looking for a big kitchen and a half decent sized Master Bedroom. I have to agree, I don't want to be cramped in a tiny sardine can.

There's an update. I hope I don't fall too far behind and have to do another massive post like this one.
